With everything going on, it easy to understand how college students may forget or may not realize they need to file a renewal FAFSA.

To remind students about the FAFSA, the Department of Education is sending out notices to students that the 2021-22 FAFSA is now available. In a October 22 Electronic Announcement, the Department said it is sending emails and SMS notifications, when applicable, to 2020–21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) filers (and parents of dependent 2020–21 FAFSA filers) who have not yet submitted a 2021–22 FAFSA form.

According to the Announcement, the goal of the campaign is to remind students and parents that the 2021–22 FAFSA form is available and should be completed soon for those going to school between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.

The Department also provided the language from their messages for others in the industry to use in their own communications.
