It's a 90's thing. With a graduate research paper due the following week, my husband wanted to get to the library as soon as it opened on Sunday at noon. We scrambled to get ready and arrived right at opening time. We pulled on the door. It was locked. Why?! We looked at our watches, checked the time on the door, and everything was telling us the library should be open. We started walking away, encountering other students heading to the library, and then stopped. At the same moment, we both realized why the doors were locked. We were supposed to turn our clocks back for the return to standard time. I think back on that memory, and I realize how much things have changed. I mean, really, who goes to a library to do research anymore? And, yes, who needs a reminder about the return to standard time when our phones take care of that for us? So, consider this message not as a reminder to set back your clock, but instead a reminder you have an extra hour this weekend to spend however you wish – perhaps pondering times gone by. – By Catherine Mueller | ||||||||||||||||
