"Permission to use a paper towel?" my daughter asked in a panicked voice as water from the dog bowl was spreading across the kitchen floor. Maybe it was mockery, but I couldn't help but laugh at my daughter's sardonic wit, which was in response to my umpteenth lecture about using all paper products sparingly. There's no question the COVID-19 is a serious situation with a real and devastating impact. It's also shaken up what we knew to be normal. If there's a question whether we'll have paper towels (and, well, ahem, other paper products for that matter), it raises questions about other things we trusted would always be there. So, my daughter's request, though a little bit of a dig at me, was a well-played bit of humor. It provided something that everyone needs right now - a little relief from the stress of this crisis.
