Trust and #WFH |
||||||||||||||||
I've saved the note my then 10-year-old daughter slipped in front of me, letting me know that there was a big ant downstairs. Hopefully, no one on the conference call noticed that I paused and maybe stumbled a bit during my online presentation As a virtual organization, Mapping Your Future employees have been working from home offices for years - enjoying the good and enduring the bad. There's a lot of great advice out there now about working from home (#WFH), but perhaps what I've learned is trust. Someone asked me once, "How do you know staff are doing their jobs if you can't see them?" My response, "Why would I have someone on staff I couldn't trust - whether I could see them or not?" Working from home does require a lot of trust - in yourself, in your staff, your customers or students, and your family. Then, again, so does working from an office. However, along with the need for trust is also the need for a little grace especially during these trying times. Maybe that's why I saved the note about big ant downstairs. | ||||||||||||||||
