Avoiding regrets - getting information to your students

One of the most frustrating experiences in life is that feeling of regret. In other words, the feeling of wishing we knew then what we know now.

It is certainly something we all want to avoid when making decisions.

For incoming college students, who may never have experienced that feeling, they need help from others to guide them and make sure that they have the right information at the right time to make good decisions.

Online counseling and education programs can help by presenting the information to students when they need it the most - especially when it comes to seeking financial aid, applying for student loans, and managing their money.

Mapping Your Future offers a variety of resources for schools to help their students:

  • Online Counseling sessions: These online counseling sessions enable both the institution and the student to meet regulatory requirements. In addition, Mapping Your Future offers other counseling sessions that go beyond meeting regulatory requirements, covering topics such as financial literacy, private loans, grace period and repayment, and non-traditional student issues. The counseling sessions are part of Mapping Your Future's school membership program and offer the ability to collect data as required by regulations and for default prevention efforts.
  • Online Education modules: Mapping Your Future offers a program to help postsecondary institutions and other organizations develop online education programs with content to meet their learning objectives. The modules can include surveys and quizzes, as well as data collection. Mapping Your Future offers the modules as a service that is not a part of membership.
  • Guide to Life after High School: These are modules for high school students to help them prepare for the future. The online sessions provide information on careers, postsecondary education, financial aid, and financial literacy. This is a free program offered by Mapping Your Future but a school must register to use the online program. There are also online booklets that educators and counselors can download free.

In addition to the above resources, Mapping Your Future works with a variety of organizations to develop programs and services that help students lead success lives.
