One of the more obvious keys to preventing student loan defaults is making sure your graduates find good employment.

While most colleges and universities have career centers that help students align their education with specific career paths, the financial aid office certainly has an interest in the issue and can help their students by stressing the importance of aligning college studies with career opportunities.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is a great resource with its employment projections. An online publication, Staten Island Live, has analyzed BLS statistics and developed a list of the 10 careers with the most jobs for new college grads. In addition, Mapping Your Future has career information and guidance online, including instructions on developing a career plan.

Share these resources with your current and future students to make sure their interests combined with the education provide a clear path to career success.
